Movie Review: Slumdog Millionaire

They say great movies are hard to find these days. They are absolutely correct. But once in a while comes a movie that takes your breath away. Slumdog Millionaire is one such movie. Slumdog Millionaire has been directed by Danny Boyle. I had seen only one movie directed by Danny, The Beach, and I loved it! Slumdog Millionaire is a totally different movie from the usual Danny Boyle stuff in the past. In fact Slumdog Millionaire is very different from any of the movies I have seen in the recent past. The superb soundtrack for the movie has been composed by A.R Rahman. The movie is based on a novel by an Indian diplomat Vikas Swarup titled ‘Q&A’.

Coming back to the film Slumdog Millionaire highly impressive. The entire cast has given brilliant performances for the film. Anil Kapoor, Dev Patel, Freida Pinto, Irrfan Khan, Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail, Ayush Mahesh Khedekar, Mahesh Manjrekar are all outstanding. There’s this spark in this 120 minute long flick that you don’t even want to miss a blink. The film has been shot superbly in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

Slumdog Millionaire is the best movie of 2008 which of course makes it the must-watch movie of the year too. If you look for quality in cinema then this is something you’ll cherish for a long time. The movie will be released in India early January 2009 though I have my doubts that the Slumdog Millionaire you’ll see in Indian theaters would be anywhere close to the real thing. The Indian (stupid)censor board is bound to make some worthless cuts in the reel.
