Young love: X Factor Eoghan and Diana seal their romance with a passionate kiss... so why did she leave in tears?

Perhaps she should have been consoling him, given that he had just lost out to Alexandra Burke in the X Factor final - but it was Eoghan who kissing away Diana's tears as she left in a taxi after the last show.

Diana Vickers was due to play a post-show gig at a nightclub in Birmingham, so was unable to continue the celebrations with the rest of her fellow former contestants.

And no doubt she was keen to commiserate with finalist Eoghan Quigg, 16, with whom she has been dodging rumours of a relationship for weeks.

The romance appears to be official now though, as there was no denying the passion between the pair as they bid each other farewell.

Looking every inch the budding stars that they are, Eoghan, still in the black suit from his last performance, pulled 17-year-old Diana towards him for a tender kiss goodbye.

The pretty blonde had tears streaming down her face as she drove off in her car. Sinitta could be seen in the background, clearly concerned for the emotional lovebirds.

The chemistry between the teenagers was nevertheless evident throughout the live shows, most notably during the semi-final when the Derry-born schoolboy broke down in tears after Diana was voted out.

And even had Simon Cowell commented on the budding relationship, saying: 'They're just two kids in love'.

Eoghan, who sang alongside childhood heroes Boyzone in last night's final, revealed to host Dermot O'Leary that he hoped to continue his career with big productions and musicals.

And the young singer was not only talking of his X Factor experience, as it seems the finalist has already played the lead in a school production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.

Eoghan's incredible confidence was evident even then, as he performed with his schoolmates at St Patrick's in Dungiven.

A professional-looking effort, the production was complete with (somewhat camp) stage make-up and an embroidered technicolour dreamcoat.

Even a surprise appearance from an Elvis lookalike couldn't steal Eoghan's thunder.

The West End version of the musical is to see fellow reality TV star Lee Mead hand over the lead role to Pop Idol winner Gareth Gates. But it won't be for long if Eoghan's got anything to do with it.
